WNBA Preview | Finals Game 6, October 29, 2026

Golden State leads the series 3-2 and is one win from the first championship in franchise history, in just its second season. Atlanta faces elimination at home and needs a win to force Game 7 back in San Francisco on Saturday. Golden State at Atlanta tips at 12:30 PM ET on USA Network, CNBC and Peacock. The midday start is not a typo: the league moved Game 6 up from its evening slot so it could stay at State Farm Arena, with the Hawks shifting their own game to 8 PM ET.

Atlanta Plays for Its Season Against the Defense That Has Taken Over the Series

KEY STAT

47

Combined first-half points in Game 5 (Golden State 25, Atlanta 22), the lowest-scoring half in WNBA Finals history.

Golden State took Game 5 by a 64-55 score behind Kiah Stokes, who posted 13 points, eight rebounds and three blocks while hitting three of her four threes, and Veronica Burton, who added 13 points and eight rebounds. Atlanta shot a season-low 29.2% from the field for a season-low 55 points, and the Valkyries turned 17 Dream turnovers into 21 points.

The Dream's two wins in this series came when Angel Reese scored 30 and 21. In the three losses, Golden State has kept her in check, and Game 5 was the hardest yet: 7 points on 2-of-8 shooting, even with 15 rebounds and five assists. Rhyne Howard scored 20, but Jordin Canada shot 5 of 18 and Allisha Gray, still playing through the hand injury from the semifinals, shot 4 of 12.

The total has shrunk across the series. After 168 combined points in Atlanta's Game 3 rout, the last two games landed at 129 and 119, and the line has only drifted down a point since the open. Gabby Williams has also been held in check, at 9 points on 3-of-14 shooting in Game 5, which tells you how hard points have been to come by for both sides.

Golden State wins if Stokes keeps Reese off the glass and out of the paint, and the Valkyries' defense makes Atlanta's guards beat them from the perimeter again.

Atlanta wins if Reese gets back to her Games 2 and 3 form at home, and Canada and Gray turn their shooting around enough to give the Dream a second reliable scorer.

Our number has Atlanta winning by 6.6 at home, 2.1 points off the line, and the side sits just under our Lean threshold. The total is where the gap is: our number of 130.9 is 16.6 points under the posted 147.5. Lean Atlanta -4.5 (Toss-up), and lean the under 147.5 (Strong).

What to Watch For Today.

Our series call was Golden State in 6, and today is that game. A Valkyries win makes them the first expansion team to win a title in its second season; an Atlanta win sends the series to a Game 7 in San Francisco on Saturday. Watch Reese's first few touches against Stokes, and whether either offense can find any rhythm in an early tip. Game 6 tips at 12:30 PM ET in Atlanta.
