Indiana has won seven of its last nine, with real defensive improvement over the last three games layered on top of already-strong shooting, 52.4 percent from the field and 44.2 percent from three in that stretch. Dallas, fourth in the West at 20-14, is dealing with real turbulence: the Wings haven't won back-to-back games since July 19, and they've failed to cover five of their last six despite Wednesday's win over Toronto. Their shooting has cratered on the road, just 33.9 percent from three while allowing 46 percent overall over their last five.

Both teams arrive shorthanded, but Dallas's list is longer and deeper into the rotation: Azzi Fudd, Aziaha James, Haley Jones, Jessica Shepard, and Camilla Verona are all out. Indiana is missing Bree Hall and rookie big M. Onyiah, far less consequential absences.

DraftKings has Indiana -6, with the total at 187.5. Given Indiana's improving defense meeting Dallas's road shooting collapse, the number looks fair or even light. Lean Indiana -6.

Portland enters off a signature win, beating Toronto behind Carla Leite's 27 points, four rebounds, and 11 assists, but Leite is now out for Friday's game, along with Amy Okonkwo, a real dent in the rotation that just delivered that win. Seattle, dead last at 6-27 and 1-9 over its last ten, is dealing with its own absences, Flau'jae Johnson and Taina Mair both out, and Katie Lou Samuelson listed questionable after injuring her knee in Wednesday's loss.

Malonga's 31-point, 10-rebound night in that loss to New York is a real reminder that Seattle isn't without individual talent, even buried in a historically bad season. Without Leite, Portland's offense loses the engine that just carried them to a win, which could make this closer than the standings suggest.

DraftKings has Seattle -2.5, with the total at 181. With Leite out for Portland and Malonga's recent scoring floor for Seattle, the home team is worth a look despite the season-long struggles. Lean Seattle -2.5.

Portland wins if the Fire's depth proves capable of replacing Leite's production, and Seattle's own injury issues, particularly a possibly limited Samuelson, prove too much to overcome.

Indiana's defensive improvement meeting Dallas's road shooting collapse is the sharpest lean of the night, a Fever team playing its best two-way basketball of the second half against a Wings squad that hasn't strung together wins in nearly a month. Portland's win over Toronto came at a cost, losing Carla Leite for Friday, which opens the door for Seattle and Dominique Malonga to author the rare bright spot in a lost season.
