Fabled is the set that redrew Lorcana's rarity ceiling — twice over. It introduced not one but two new rarities at once, Epic (between Legendary and Enchanted) and Iconic (above Enchanted, the new chase ceiling), paired with a deliberately reprint-heavy checklist (171 of 204 main-set cards) celebrating the game's second anniversary. Reception was genuinely controversial at launch — Beckett called it "somewhat controversial," and Nerdist warned the reprint-forward approach "may not convince longtime players to invest" — even as the same reviewers called the new-rarity reset "Lorcana's most interesting release" structurally. The market settled the argument emphatically: Fabled produced one of only a handful of Lorcana cards ever to command a four-figure price point, and its release is widely credited with pulling new collectors into the hobby who hadn't been active before.

Iconic rarity, introduced with this set, tracks far rarer — later-set community estimates for the tier (established once Wilds Unknown added two more Iconics) put Iconic odds around 1 in 1,500 to 2,000 packs, though Fabled-specific pack data wasn't independently available for this write-up.

With Community Reception restored and correctly reflecting genuine launch controversy over the reprint-heavy approach, Fabled drops from the catalog's highest score (89) to a still-strong 85.25 — real critical reception was more contested than the original all-market-signal framing suggested, even though it remains one of the best-performing sets in the catalog. Chase Card Desirability is still the standout, carried by genuine four-figure secondary market results for the first-ever Iconics. Competitive Relevance benefits from the rotation reset itself, which reshaped the entire Core Constructed format on release day.

Fabled triggered Lorcana's first Core Constructed rotation, removing The First Chapter, Rise of the Floodborn, Into the Inklands, and Ursula's Return from Standard play. Its introduction of Iconic rarity marks the formal start of what this publication tracks as the Iconic Era.
