Simmons Debuts, Swift Scores Three, and Chicago Beats the Champions in Seattle

Chicago Bears 34, Seattle Seahawks 17

Chicago never trailed. Caleb Williams threw a 1-yard touchdown pass to Luther Burden III at 5:30 of the first quarter, and after a 27-yard Jason Myers field goal, Cairo Santos made it 13-3 with field goals of 44 yards at 6:11 and 38 yards at 1:12 of the second. Sam Darnold answered with a 43-yard touchdown to Jaxon Smith-Njigba at 0:37, but Myers missed the extra point, and it was 13-9 at the half.

Swift scored from the 1 at 5:41 of the third for a 20-9 lead, and the Bears also blocked a 33-yard Myers field goal in the fourth. Seattle still got within three when Darnold found Cooper Kupp for a 7-yard touchdown at 11:51 and completed the two-point try, 20-17. Swift answered from 5 yards at 8:33, and then Austin Booker tipped a Darnold pass on third-and-7 that defensive lineman James Lynch intercepted and brought back to the Seattle 6. Swift scored from the 5 at 4:46 for the final 34-17.

Williams was 24-of-34 for 247 yards and a touchdown without an interception, and Rome Odunze caught four passes for 87 yards. Swift needed 27 carries for 69 yards but scored all three of his touchdowns after halftime. Simmons, acquired Thursday, had six tackles, two for loss, and a first-quarter sack of Darnold. Darnold was 17-of-34 for 188 yards with two touchdowns and an interception, his ninth of the season, and was sacked three times. Chicago is 6-2, and defending champion Seattle fell to 4-4.
