Burrow Brings the NFL's Hottest Offense to Madrid

Cincinnati Bengals @ Atlanta Falcons | 9:30 AM ET | NFL Network, ESPN (Madrid)

KEY STAT

20

Touchdown passes for Joe Burrow through seven games, the most in the NFL, along with the league's best completion percentage (73.0) and passing yards per game (302.1).

Cincinnati is 5-2 and Joe Burrow is playing like an MVP candidate. He threw for 462 yards and five touchdowns, plus three interceptions, in a 43-36 overtime win over Tennessee last Sunday, and he has thrown 13 touchdown passes in his last three games. Ja'Marr Chase (11 catches, 141 yards) and Tee Higgins (10 catches, 155 yards, two touchdowns) both had big games last week. The defense has been the weak spot: it has allowed 856 rushing yards at 4.8 per carry, and safety Kyle Dugger is out. Defensive end Cedric Johnson (ankle, foot) is questionable.

Atlanta is 3-5 and coming off a 16-0 loss to Tampa Bay in a monsoon, in which Michael Penix Jr. threw four interceptions. The Falcons are the designated home team in Madrid, and they will lean on Bijan Robinson, the NFL's leading rusher with 780 yards at 5.2 per carry, who has carried the ball 150 of Atlanta's 234 times. Brian Robinson Jr. (hamstring), receiver Zachariah Branch (hamstring) and tackle Cameron Williams (ankle) are out, and Pearce, Abdullah, Deablo and Collins are all questionable. Atlanta is 7-1 against the spread in its last eight games as an underdog.

Cincinnati wins if Burrow keeps the passing game humming against Atlanta's secondary and the defense holds Bijan under his usual workload.

Atlanta wins if Robinson controls the ground game against a Bengals run defense that has struggled, and Penix bounces back from last week's four turnovers.

Lean Cincinnati -3 (Toss-up), and lean the over 52.5 (Lean).

THE CARD · CIN @ ATL

The line CIN -3 · ATL +3 · total 52.5 · CIN -3.5 earlier in the week · DraftKings

This season CIN 3-4 ATS, 5-2 O/U · ATL 3-5 ATS, 4-4 O/U

Rest & availability CIN 7 days plus travel to Madrid, Dugger out, C. Johnson questionable · ATL 7 days, B. Robinson, Branch and Williams out, Pearce, Abdullah, Deablo and Collins questionable

Lean CIN -3 (Toss-up) · Over ↑ 52.5 (Lean)

Driven by the matchup. Burrow's offense is peaking against a Falcons secondary that allows a high completion rate, but Atlanta has covered in seven of its last eight as an underdog and Bijan Robinson faces a Bengals run defense that gives up 4.8 yards per carry, so the side stays close to even. Cincinnati's games are 5-2 to the over, and the total is high enough for both offenses to find yards.

Two 5-3 Teams, and a Packers Team Short Up Front

Green Bay Packers @ New England Patriots | 4:25 PM ET | FOX

KEY STAT

17

Consecutive games the Patriots have won as a favorite, per FOX Sports. They are 3-4-1 against the spread this season.

New England and Green Bay are both 5-3 and built in similar ways, with a quarterback carrying the offense. Drake Maye has 1,983 yards and 15 touchdowns, he has had at least three total touchdowns in five straight games, and last week he led a comeback from a 13-3 halftime deficit to beat Miami 24-19. He will play without receiver A.J. Brown (ankle, knee), who has just nine catches in three games as a Patriot, and without running back TreVeyon Henderson (illness). Tight end Hunter Henry, tackle Morgan Moses and cornerback Carlton Davis III are questionable. The Patriots have 15 giveaways, tied for the third most in the league.

Green Bay is coming off a 27-19 win over Carolina on Thursday night and has 10 days of rest to New England's seven. Jordan Love has 2,246 yards, 16 touchdowns and six interceptions, but the line is short: guard Travis Glover and center Sean Rhyan are out, along with linebacker Zaire Franklin and tight end Josh Whyle, and edge rusher Micah Parsons (knee) is out as he works back from the PUP list. The Packers have 15 takeaways, second in the league, and have allowed two touchdowns against seven interceptions on throws of 10 or more yards. Green Bay is 17-3 against the spread as an underdog of three or more under Matt LaFleur since 2019, per ESPN.

Green Bay wins if Love protects the ball with a reshuffled line and the defense forces Maye into the downfield mistakes it has been collecting.

New England wins if Maye keeps finding open receivers without Brown and the Patriots avoid the turnovers that have cost them this season.

Lean Green Bay +3.5 (Lean), and lean the under 44.5 (Toss-up).

THE CARD · GB @ NE

The line NE -3.5 · GB +3.5 · total 44.5 · DraftKings

This season GB 5-3 ATS, under in each of its last five games · NE 3-4-1 ATS, 5-3 O/U

Rest & availability GB 10 days, Parsons, Glover, Rhyan, Franklin and Whyle out, Brooks, Lloyd and Nixon questionable · NE 7 days, A.J. Brown and Henderson out, Henry, Moses, Davis, Byard and Van Roten questionable

Lean GB +3.5 (Lean) · Under ↓ 44.5 (Toss-up)

Driven by the trend and the schedule. Green Bay has covered five straight, has the rest edge and has done well as a short underdog, while New England is without its top receiver and has turned it over often. The Patriots' games are 5-3 to the over and the Packers' have been going under, so the total stays a toss-up.

Two No. 1 Picks, and a Bucs Passing Game With 64 Yards in Two Weeks

Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Chicago Bears | 8:20 PM ET | NBC (Peacock)

KEY STAT

64

Passing yards for Baker Mayfield over the last two games, on 14 attempts, as Tampa Bay has won with its run game and defense.

Caleb Williams and Baker Mayfield, both Heisman winners under Lincoln Riley and both No. 1 overall picks, meet for the first time. Chicago is 6-2 and has won three straight, the latest a statement win at Seattle in which new defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons had six tackles, a sack and two tackles for loss in his debut. Williams has completed 70.9% of his passes for 1,267 yards, six touchdowns and one interception, D'Andre Swift has 545 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns, and Luther Burden III has 547 receiving yards. The Bears' offense is third in the league in yards per game (387.3), and the team is 8-0 against the spread in primetime, per Covers. Kyle Monangai, Malik Muhammad and Tyrique Stevenson are questionable.

Tampa Bay is 3-5 and has won two straight by a combined 59-13, a 43-13 win over Carolina and a 16-0 win over Atlanta, in which Baker Mayfield was 0-for-3 passing in a downpour. He has 679 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions this season after missing three starts with a thumb injury, and he practiced fully this week. The Bucs are built on Bucky Irving (728 rushing yards) and a defense that ranks third in yards allowed (285.9 per game). Receiver Emeka Egbuka (foot) is questionable but practiced fully Thursday and Friday, and edge rusher YaYa Diaby is out.

Tampa Bay wins if Irving and the run game control the clock and the defense keeps Williams from getting loose.

Chicago wins if Simmons and the front shut down Irving and Williams makes enough throws against Tampa Bay's secondary.

Lean Chicago -6 (Toss-up), and lean the under 47.5 (Lean).

THE CARD · TB @ CHI

The line CHI -6 · TB +6 · total 47.5 · DraftKings

This season TB 3-5 ATS, 4-4 O/U · CHI 6-2 ATS, 4-4 O/U

Rest & availability TB 7 days, Diaby out, Egbuka questionable, Mayfield cleared · CHI 6 days after Monday night, Monangai, Muhammad and Stevenson questionable, Simmons expected to start

Lean CHI -6 (Toss-up) · Under ↓ 47.5 (Lean)

Driven by the matchup. Chicago is 6-2 against the spread and 8-0 in primetime, but it is laying nearly a touchdown against the league's third-ranked defense, so the side stays close to even. Tampa Bay's run-first offense has produced 64 passing yards in two games and both defenses rank near the top by yards allowed, which supports the under.
