Lamar Jackson Returns to Face the NFL's Highest-Scoring Offense

Baltimore Ravens @ Buffalo Bills | 1:00 PM ET | CBS

KEY STAT

32.8

Points per game for the Bills, the highest average in the NFL. They face a Ravens defense that just gave up a second-half collapse to Cincinnati.

Baltimore is 4-3 and on a two-game losing streak, and its season turns on whether Lamar Jackson is right. He missed three games with a high ankle sprain, was a full participant in practice this week and has no injury designation. Before the injury the Ravens went 3-1 with him, and he completed 70.8% of his passes with six touchdowns and one interception. Guard Olaivavega Ioane and safety Jaylinn Hawkins are out, and with the offensive line short, Andrew Vorhees or Emery Jones Jr. will play guard. The Ravens are 2-5 against the spread.

Buffalo is 5-1 and coming off a bye, following road wins at the Rams and Raiders. Josh Allen and James Cook lead the NFL's second-best rushing attack, and the Bills' games have gone over in five of six. The injury list is the only caution: DJ Moore (AC sprain) missed the last two games and is questionable, along with tight end Dalton Kincaid, tackle Spencer Brown and cornerback Dee Alford. Buffalo's defense has been the weak spot all season. This is the eighth Jackson vs. Allen meeting, and Jackson has 678 yards, eight touchdowns and three interceptions in five previous games against Buffalo.

Baltimore wins if Jackson's legs are close enough to full strength to keep Buffalo's pass rush honest, and Derrick Henry controls the clock.

Buffalo wins if Allen and Cook keep scoring at their usual pace and the Bills' extra rest shows against a short-handed Baltimore line.

Lean Buffalo -3 (Lean), and lean the over 54.5 (Lean).

THE CARD · BAL @ BUF

The line BUF -3 · BAL +3 · total 54.5 · opened BUF -3 and 53.5 · DraftKings

This season BAL 2-5 ATS, 4-3 O/U · BUF 4-2 ATS, 5-1 O/U

Rest & availability BAL 7 days, Jackson cleared, Hawkins and Ioane out, Tampa questionable · BUF off the bye, Shavers out, Moore, Kincaid, Brown and Alford questionable

Lean BUF -3 (Lean) · Over ↑ 54.5 (Lean)

Driven by the schedule. Buffalo is rested at home and Baltimore is 2-5 against the spread with a short-handed line, but Jackson is back and the number sits on the key number of three. Buffalo's games are 5-1 to the over and the total is the highest on the board, which supports the over.

First Place in the AFC West, and a Chiefs Offense Looking for Points

Kansas City Chiefs @ Denver Broncos | 4:25 PM ET | CBS

KEY STAT

3

Points Kansas City scored in its 20-3 loss at Seattle last week, tied for the fewest of Patrick Mahomes' career.

Kansas City is 5-1 and half a game ahead of Denver, but last Sunday was its worst performance of the season. Patrick Mahomes has 1,474 yards and nine touchdowns against four interceptions, and he has thrown at a career-low average depth of target, 5.1 in each of the last two games. The Chiefs have lost three straight at Mile High. Defensive tackle Omarr Norman-Lott is out, cornerbacks L'Jarius Sneed and Mansoor Delane are questionable, and Mahomes (knee), Travis Kelce and Rashee Rice have no designation. The defense ranks second in points allowed at 17.2 per game.

Denver is 5-2, on a three-game winning streak after a 30-16 win over Arizona, and has won with the defense and with Sean Payton calling plays: the Broncos are scoring 23.3 points per game over that stretch. Bo Nix has 1,271 yards, seven touchdowns and three interceptions, and he is 2-0 at home against Kansas City. Denver is 3-0 against the spread at home. The injuries are the concern: safety Talanoa Hufanga and running back RJ Harvey are out, and receiver Jaylen Waddle, defensive lineman Zach Allen, tackle Garett Bolles and safety Brandon Jones are questionable. Cornerback Pat Surtain II (ankle) is back as a full participant.

Kansas City wins if Mahomes and Kelce find more downfield room than they did against Seattle and the defense continues to hold offenses under 18 points.

Denver wins if Nix keeps taking care of the ball, Surtain slows Rice and Kelce, and Mile High does what it has done for Payton against Kansas City.

Lean Denver +1.5 (Lean), and lean the under 40.5 (Lean).

THE CARD · KC @ DEN

The line KC -1.5 · DEN +1.5 · total 40.5 · opened KC -1.5 · DraftKings

This season KC 3-3 ATS, 2-4 O/U · DEN 5-2 ATS, 2-5 O/U

Rest & availability KC 7 days, Norman-Lott out, Sneed and Delane questionable, Mahomes cleared · DEN 7 days, Harvey and Hufanga out, Waddle, Allen, Bolles and Jones questionable, Surtain cleared

Lean DEN +1.5 (Lean) · Under ↓ 40.5 (Lean)

Driven by the trend. Denver is 5-2 against the spread and 3-0 at home, and Kansas City has lost three straight at Mile High after scoring three points last week. Denver's games are 5-2 to the under, the Chiefs rank second in points allowed, and the total is the lowest of the afternoon, so the under lines up with both teams' profiles.

A Five-Game Losing Streak Meets a Rested Commanders Team

Philadelphia Eagles @ Washington Commanders | 8:20 PM ET | NBC (Peacock)

KEY STAT

Turnovers for Jayden Daniels this season, per the Commanders. Philadelphia has lost five straight and is 1-6 against the spread.

Philadelphia is 2-5 after a 38-21 loss to Dallas on Monday night, a game in which the defense did not record a tackle for loss or a quarterback hit. Tanner McKee makes his third straight start in place of Jalen Hurts (out for the season) and is coming off 23-of-35 for 211 yards, a touchdown and an interception. Saquon Barkley rushed for 62 yards and a touchdown on Monday and has no designation after a limited Friday. DeVonta Smith, Dontayvion Wicks, Britain Covey, linebacker Jihaad Campbell and cornerback Jonathan Jones are all out. Philadelphia has the fifth-lowest pressure rate in the NFL.

Washington is 1-4-1 and rested after a bye, having lost 23-17 at San Francisco its last time out. Jayden Daniels has thrown for 300 yards in that loss and has 213 rushing yards in four games, and the Commanders blitz at the second-highest rate in football. Defensive tackles Daron Payne and Javon Kinlaw are out, and Jer'Zhan Newton, John Bates and Treylon Burks are questionable. Philadelphia won the first meeting 24-22 in Week 1.

Philadelphia wins if McKee gets the ball out quickly against the blitz and Barkley finds room against a Washington front missing two tackles.

Washington wins if Daniels keeps his turnover-free run going and the Commanders' blitz-heavy defense gets to a quarterback behind a line that allowed four sacks on Monday.

Lean Philadelphia +6 (Toss-up), and lean the over 40.5 (Lean).

THE CARD · PHI @ WAS

The line WAS -6 · PHI +6 · total 40.5 · DraftKings

This season PHI 1-6 ATS, 4-3 O/U · WAS 3-3 ATS, 4-2 O/U

Rest & availability PHI 6 days after Monday night, D. Smith, Wicks, Covey, Campbell and Jones out, Barkley cleared · WAS off the bye, Payne and Kinlaw out, Newton, Bates and Burks questionable, Daniels cleared

Lean PHI +6 (Toss-up) · Over ↑ 40.5 (Lean)

Driven by the number. Philadelphia is 1-6 against the spread with its top receivers out, but teams in Washington's spot, home favorites off a bye against road underdogs off Monday night, have struggled against the spread, and Washington's defensive tackles are out. Washington's games are 4-2 to the over by a wide margin and the total is the lowest on the board, which supports the over.
