NBA Recap | October 24, 2026
Saturday was eight games on tired legs, and the night belonged to the teams that found a second wind. Denver came back from 23 down and beat New Orleans in overtime on a 42-point night from Jamal Murray and a 35-15-10 line from Nikola Jokic. Philadelphia pulled away from Milwaukee in the third quarter with Joel Embiid posting a triple-double and LeBron James in street clothes. San Antonio got its first win in Dallas with Cooper Flagg and Kyrie Irving both out, Charlotte survived a 23-point Miami comeback behind Brandon Miller’s 34, Cleveland let a 24-point lead shrink to two before holding off Brooklyn, Washington’s third quarter buried Chicago, Houston moved to 3-0 in Atlanta, and Devin Booker closed the night with 43 as Phoenix pulled away from a Golden State team missing Stephen Curry. Here’s how it went down, every card graded, and where the record stands.
Embiid's Triple-Double and a 15-5 Third-Quarter Run Carry Philadelphia to 3-0
Milwaukee Bucks 116, Philadelphia 76ers 127
Milwaukee had the better of the first half. Philadelphia led 34-25 after one quarter on Tyrese Maxey's 46-footer at the buzzer, but the Bucks opened the second with nine straight points, tied it at 34 with 8:56 left, and took their biggest lead at 48-41 on Kel'el Ware's free throw with 5:38 to go. Philadelphia answered with 10 straight, from Kentavious Caldwell-Pope's three at 2:08 to Embiid's free throws at 1:15 for a 61-56 lead, and Jaylen Brown's three with 11.8 seconds to go sent the 76ers in up 64-60.
The third quarter was tied three times, the last at 82-82 on AJ Green's three with 4:25 left, and then Philadelphia ran off 15 of the next 20. Embiid's free throws at 3:24 put the 76ers ahead for good, Caldwell-Pope's three at 2:57 made it 87-82, Maxey's three at 1:58 made it 91-84, and Maxey's step-back at 1.7 seconds sent Philadelphia into the fourth up 97-87. The lead reached 16 at 105-89 with 9:28 left, Milwaukee got within three at 117-114 on Ware's and-one with 2:02 to go, and Brown's three from 27 feet at 1:39 and Caldwell-Pope's runner at 1:12 put it back to nine. For Milwaukee, Jaime Jaquez Jr. led with 21, Ware had 19 and 13 off the bench, Ryan Rollins scored 15, Kyle Kuzma had 14 and 12, and Tyler Herro went 6-of-14 for 13. Myles Turner was 0-of-4 in 20 minutes. The Bucks outrebounded the 76ers 62-40 and scored 58 in the paint, and lost anyway. James sat with his back; Dean Wade started and made two threes. Philadelphia is 3-0; Milwaukee is 0-3.
THE CARD, GRADED · MIL @ PHI
Side MIL +12.5 (Strong) · closing number PHI -12.5 · Philadelphia won by 11, 1.5 points inside the number · cleared
Total Under 233.5 (Lean) · closing number 234.5 · the teams combined for 243, 8.5 over the number · missed
Our number had the 76ers by about seven; they won by 11, and the Strong lean was about the size of the gap, not the winner. The under never had a chance against 44 Philadelphia threes and 31 Milwaukee fast-break points.
Spurs Score 30 in the Fourth and Get Their First Win in Dallas
San Antonio Spurs 122, Dallas Mavericks 106
Dallas took the floor without Cooper Flagg, whose shoulder kept him out, and without Kyrie Irving, listed out with a knee, and for three quarters it did not matter. The first half had six lead changes, the Mavericks' biggest lead was six at 47-41 with 6:27 left in the second, and San Antonio closed the half with Dylan Harper's layup and free throw at 3.2 seconds for a 68-60 lead. Dallas came all the way back in the third: Sergio de Larrea's floater at 2:01 put the Mavericks up 85-84, Zaccharie Risacher's step-back at 1:28 made it 87-86, and the lead changed hands four times in 52 seconds before Stephon Castle's three at 1:09 and Victor Wembanyama's three at 35.7 seconds sent the Spurs into the fourth up 92-89.
Then the Spurs' shooting took over. Daniel Gafford's layup made it 92-91 with 11:32 left, and San Antonio answered with 11 straight: Devin Vassell's three at 11:15, Tarris Reed Jr.'s alley-oop at 10:40, Julian Champagnie's three at 9:52 and Harper's three at 9:05 made it 103-91. Champagnie and Harper made two more threes for 109-94 at 5:53, Wembanyama's alley-oop and free throw made it 112-96 at 5:06, and Harper's dunk at 3:13 pushed the lead to 23 at 119-96. Dallas scored 17 in the fourth quarter; San Antonio scored 30.

Total Under 230.5 (Lean) · closing number 229.5 · the teams combined for 228, 1.5 under the number · cleared
The widest gap we have printed went the wrong way, and it was closer than the final looks: Dallas led with two minutes left in the third, then was outscored 30-17 in the fourth. The market moved three points toward San Antonio once Flagg and Irving were ruled out, and the margin finished a point and a half past even the closing number.
Booker Scores 43, and Phoenix Pulls Away From a Curry-less Golden State in the Third
Golden State Warriors 122, Phoenix Suns 131
Golden State took the floor without Stephen Curry, Kristaps Porzingis, Al Horford and Brandin Podziemski, and Draymond Green did not play, and for a half the short-handed Warriors held their own. Yaxel Lendeborg made two threes and Brandon Williams a third for an 11-4 lead with 9:00 left in the first, Devin Booker’s running layup at 5:09 gave Phoenix its first lead at 16-15, and Golden State closed the quarter up 25-22. The second quarter was tied six times: De’Anthony Melton’s three at 3:27 made it 47-44, LJ Cryer’s three at 3:01 made it 50-47, Dillon Brooks’s three at 2:00 put the Suns up 54-52, and Booker’s driving layup at 57.4 seconds sent Phoenix in up 57-54.
Lendeborg’s three tied it at 57 eleven seconds into the third, and Phoenix answered with 14 of the next 18 for a 71-61 lead on Jalen Green’s and-one at 8:12. That was the last Warriors lead. Khaman Maluach’s three at 5:32 put Phoenix ahead 76-75 for good, Collin Gillespie made two threes for 85-80 at 3:40, and Booker scored 11 in the final 2:55 of the quarter, the last of them a 27-foot running pull-up and the free throw that came with it at 36.4 seconds for 99-89. Jordan Goodwin’s three with two seconds left sent the Suns into the fourth up 102-92; Phoenix won the quarter 45-38.
The lead reached 16 at 118-102 on Booker’s technical free throw at 6:07, and Golden State got no closer than seven, at 124-117 on Richard’s three at 3:00. Brooks’s driving layup at 2:38 and Booker’s pull-ups at 1:43 and 1:06 made it 131-119, and Lendeborg’s jumper at 25.5 seconds set the final. Our number had Phoenix by less than three, and the Suns beat a Warriors team missing Curry by nine; the side cleared only because the market moved a point toward Phoenix after the card printed, and against the 8.5 we published it would have missed by half a point. The over was never in doubt once both teams passed 50 by halftime.

A Comeback From 23 Down, a Triple-Double, and a First Win.
Saturday’s eight games had 11 teams on the second night of a back-to-back, and the tired legs showed late: Miami erased 23 in Charlotte and lost, Brooklyn erased 24 in Cleveland and lost, Chicago won the fourth by 11 and lost, and Denver erased 23 and won in overtime. In the late game, Phoenix scored 45 in the third quarter and beat a Golden State team playing without Stephen Curry, 131-122. Philadelphia and Houston are 3-0; Miami, Milwaukee, New Orleans and Golden State are 0-3.
Star of the Night: Jamal Murray, G, Denver
42 PTS | 12-of-25 FG | 8-of-16 3PT | 10-of-13 FT | 6 AST | 0 TO
Nikola Jokic’s 35-15-10 in the same game, Joel Embiid’s 28-11-10 in Philadelphia and Devin Booker’s 43 on 17-of-25 in Phoenix all had a case, but Murray made the three that cut it to four, the free throws that tied it, and eight threes in all without a turnover in 43 minutes, so he is the clearer story.
Dud of the Night: Myles Turner, C, Milwaukee
0 PTS | 0-of-4 FG | 5 REB | 3 TO | 20 MIN
James Harden’s 1-of-8 in Cleveland, Brandon Miller’s 10-of-29 and Georges Niang’s 2-of-9 off the Golden State bench were in the conversation, but Harden still had 12 points and seven assists, Miller’s team won, and Niang’s team had five players out. Turner, the starting center against Joel Embiid, went scoreless with three turnovers in a game the Bucks lost by 11.
