Booker Scores 30, Brooks Adds 24, and Phoenix Buries Orlando With a 22-5 Run in the Third

Orlando Magic 104, Phoenix Suns 117

Booker opened with threes from 30 and 26 feet in the first 90 seconds, and the first quarter traded leads until Desmond Bane's free throw tied it 17-17 with 5:32 left. Brooks' 21-footer off Booker at 5:20 put Phoenix ahead for good, and the Suns led 33-26 after one. The lead sat at 10 for most of the second: Luke Kennard's three off Miles Bridges made it 36-26 at 11:49, Goga Bitadze's alley-oop off Franz Wagner had Orlando within 41-31 at 8:23, and Booker's step-back from 15 feet at 3:23 made it 56-46. Phoenix led 63-51 at the half.

Orlando opened the third with a push. Wagner's running layup, Anthony Black's layup and Carter's alley-oop dunk off Wagner at 10:21 cut it to 65-57, and it looked like a game. It was not. Golden State Takes Its First Lead in the Third and Runs Away From a Tired Miami for a Sixth Straight Win

Phoenix Gets Up Off the Mat, and Golden State Makes It Six Straight

A night after giving up 132 to Portland, the Suns held Orlando to 22 in the third quarter and won by 13 to reach 2-5. Orlando, still without Paolo Banchero and Jalen Suggs, lost its third straight and is 2-6 despite a 10-of-12 night from Wendell Carter Jr. In San Francisco, Golden State trailed or was tied for the first 20 minutes before a 38-23 third quarter pulled it away from Miami for its sixth straight win since an 0-3 start. Both side leans cleared; both over leans missed.

Star of the Night: Devin Booker, G, Phoenix Suns

30 PTS | 8 AST | 3 STL | 11-of-22 FG | 4-of-8 3PT | 4-of-4 FT | 34 MIN | +16

Stephen Curry's 29 on six threes in 28 minutes, Dillon Brooks' 24 on 9-of-16, and Carter's 27 and 13 in a loss made cases of their own. Booker made the first two shots of the night, had four assists during the 22-5 run that ended it, and did it on the second night of a back-to-back after a home loss, so he gets the night by a hair over Curry.

Dud of the Night: Jamal Cain, F, Orlando Magic

5 PTS | 2-of-9 FG | 1-of-6 3PT | 5 REB | 0 AST | 2 TO | 25 MIN | -14

Klay Thompson's 3-of-10 against his former team, Tristan da Silva's minus-15 and Franz Wagner's six turnovers were in the conversation. Cain missed seven of nine shots and five of six threes in 25 minutes, and Orlando was outscored by 14 with him on the floor.
