NBA Recap | November 1, 2026

Sunday's four games produced a first win, a rookie record and a 45-point night. Brooklyn beat Indiana 98-90 for its first win of the season, Jayson Tatum scored 32 as Boston won its fifth straight in Orlando, and Luka Dončić had 45 points and 15 rebounds as the Lakers held off a late Toronto charge 131-125. In San Francisco, rookie Yaxel Lendeborg scored a career-high 37, the most by a Warriors rookie since Stephen Curry in 2010, as Golden State beat the Clippers 124-112 without Curry and Draymond Green. Here's how it went down, every card graded, and where the record stands.

Tatum Scores 32, George Takes the Fourth, and Boston Wins Its Fifth Straight

Boston Celtics 108, Orlando Magic 97

Boston led 24-23 after one quarter and 55-50 at the half, and Orlando, still without Paolo Banchero and Jalen Suggs, answered with an 18-4 run late in the third to pull even at 72. The Celtics took a 77-74 lead into the fourth, and Anthony Black's three-point play tied it early in the period. Tristan da Silva and Desmond Bane got Orlando within 97-91 with 3:57 left, and Boston closed it from there: Neemias Queta had two blocks in the final two minutes, and Paul George, who scored 10 in the fourth, hit a late three to put it away.

Tatum finished with 32 points, 15 of them at the line, and seven assists, and George added 17. Luka Garza scored 12 off the bench and Baylor Scheierman 10, while Payton Pritchard, two nights after scoring 30, went 3-of-11 and 0-of-7 from three for seven points. Black and da Silva each scored 23 for Orlando, and Franz Wagner had 14 points and a career-high 12 assists. Boston is 5-1; Orlando is 2-4 and 0-3 at home.

THE CARD, GRADED · BOS @ ORL

Side ORL +6.5 (Strong) · preview number BOS -6.5 · Orlando lost by 11, 4.5 points short of the number · missed

Total Over 220.5 (Strong) · preview number 220.5 · the teams combined for 205, 15.5 under the number · missed

Our number had Orlando within two points at home, a gap of exactly five against the book's 6.5, and Boston pulled away late to win by 11. The over was our 230.7 against 220.5, the widest total gap on the card, and the teams finished 15.5 under it. Both Strong leans missed.

Porter and Randle Hold Off Indiana, and Brooklyn Has Its First Win

Brooklyn Nets 98, Indiana Pacers 90

Both teams started slowly, and Julius Randle's three with under five minutes left in the first gave Brooklyn a 12-10 lead, erasing Indiana's last lead of the night. The teams combined for 17 first-half turnovers, Michael Porter Jr.'s layup at the halftime buzzer made it 43-40, and the Nets opened the third on a 9-0 run, with a Porter four-point play and a Nolan Traore three and floater, to lead 52-40. Brooklyn led by 12 three different times in the quarter and 71-62 going into the fourth, and back-to-back threes from Larry Nance Jr. and Andrew Nembhard cut it to 75-72 three minutes in. That was as close as Indiana got.

Porter finished with 23 points and nine rebounds on 7-of-16, Randle had 20 points and six assists on 5-of-15 with 4-of-9 from three, Traore scored 16, Day'Ron Sharpe had 15 and 13, and Moritz Wagner added 14 off the bench. Brooklyn won the glass 43-37. Nembhard led Indiana with 23, Pascal Siakam had 17 and Quenton Jackson 12; the Pacers shot 32 percent and went 4-of-20 from three in the first half. Brooklyn is 1-5; Indiana is 2-5.

THE CARD, GRADED · BKN @ IND

Side IND -3.5 (Toss-up) · preview number IND -3.5 · Indiana lost outright by 8, 11.5 points short of the number · missed

Total Over 231.5 (Toss-up) · preview number 231.5 · the teams combined for 188, 43.5 under the number · missed

Our number had Indiana by about five at home, within two points of the book, and a short-handed Pacers team lost outright to the league's last winless team. The over was our 235.1 against 231.5, inside our threshold, and the night's lowest-scoring game finished 43.5 under.

Dončić Scores 45 With 15 Rebounds, and the Lakers Survive a 43-Point Toronto Fourth

Toronto Raptors 125, Los Angeles Lakers 131

The Lakers led 36-23 after one quarter, and Luka Dončić's step-back threes from 26 and 30 feet in the final seconds of the half made it 66-54. Los Angeles kept pulling away in the third and led 102-76 with 90 seconds left in it. Toronto trimmed the margin to single digits before Dončić and Austin Reaves led a 9-1 burst, and the Lakers pulled their starters with 1:43 left and a 16-point lead. The Raptors' reserves then scored 11 points in 40 seconds to make it 125-120, and Dončić, Reaves and Walker Kessler had to come back in to close it.

Dončić finished with 45 points, a season-high 15 rebounds, six assists and five steals, with eight threes. Scottie Barnes led Toronto with 29 on 11-of-20, and Immanuel Quickley had seven assists. Toronto won the fourth quarter 43-27. Los Angeles is 5-2; Toronto is 3-3.

THE CARD, GRADED · TOR @ LAL

Side TOR +4.5 (Lean) · preview number LAL -4.5 · Toronto lost by 6, 1.5 points short of the number · missed

Total Under 227.5 (Toss-up) · preview number 227.5 · the teams combined for 256, 28.5 over the number · missed

Our number had the Lakers by a point and a half, three short of the book, and Toronto's late run against the Lakers' reserves left it a point and a half short. The under was our 227.1 against 227.5, almost exactly even, and a 43-point Toronto fourth carried it 28.5 past.

The Rest of the Slate

Golden State 124, LA Clippers 112: The Clippers led 37-29 after one quarter, and rookie Yaxel Lendeborg scored 14 in the second to put Golden State ahead 63-57 at the half. He finished with a career-high 37 on 13-of-19, with four rebounds and six assists, and Brandon Williams added 17 off the bench as Golden State won its fourth straight without Stephen Curry and Draymond Green. Rui Hachimura led the Clippers with 24, and Kobe Sanders scored 16 off the bench. Golden State is 4-3; the Clippers are 1-5 and have lost five straight.

THE CARD, GRADED · LAC @ GSW

Side GSW -2.5 (Strong) · preview number GSW -2.5 · Golden State won by 12, 9.5 points past the number · cleared

Total Over 219.5 (Lean) · preview number 219.5 · the teams combined for 236, 16.5 over the number · cleared

Our number had Golden State by 10 and could not see that Curry and Green were out, which is why the book had the Warriors by only 2.5; Lendeborg's 37 carried them to a 12-point win anyway. The over was our 224.0 against 219.5, and the teams scored 236.

Brooklyn's First Win, Lendeborg's 37, and a 45-Point Night for Dončić.

Three of Sunday's four favorites won, and the one that didn't was the night's biggest story: Brooklyn won for the first time this season, in Indianapolis. Boston has won five straight, Golden State four straight, the Lakers are 5-2, and the Clippers have lost five in a row.

Star of the Night: Luka Dončić, G, Los Angeles Lakers

45 PTS | 15 REB | 6 AST | 5 STL | 8 3PM

Yaxel Lendeborg's career-high 37 on 13-of-19 and Jayson Tatum's 32 in Orlando made cases of their own, but Dončić's 45, 15, six and five steals carried a Lakers team that needed him back on the floor in the final minute to finish it, so he is the clearer story.

Dud of the Night: Payton Pritchard, G, Boston Celtics

7 PTS | 3-of-11 FG | 0-of-7 3PT | 1-of-1 FT | 7 REB | 3 AST | 27 MIN

Indiana's 32 percent first half in a home loss to the winless Nets was in the conversation as a unit, and Julius Randle went 5-of-15 in a Brooklyn win. Pritchard, two nights after scoring 30, missed all seven of his threes in 27 minutes, so he is the clearer dud, even in a Boston win.
