WNBA Recap | June 16, 2026
One game on the Tuesday Commissioner's Cup slate, and Indiana made it count. The Fever jumped out early, let Toronto win the second quarter, then responded with their two best offensive quarters of the game back-to-back to pull away for a comfortable 22-point win. Kelsey Mitchell posted one of the most efficient scoring performances of the entire Commissioner's Cup, Sophie Cunningham went six-of-seven from three off the bench, and Caitlin Clark orchestrated 14 assists on a night where Indiana's depth proved too much for Toronto to handle. Here's how it all went down.
Mitchell Shines as Fever Pull Away From Tempo
Toronto Tempo 91, Indiana Fever 113
Indiana led 26-20 after the first quarter and appeared in control. Toronto won the second quarter 30-27 to tie it up at 50-50 at halftime, and suddenly the game had the feel of something that might get interesting. Then Indiana flipped a switch. The Fever outscored the Tempo 32-23 in the third and 28-18 in the fourth, building their biggest lead to 24 and never letting Toronto find a foothold again. Final: 113-91, Indiana improves to 5-1 in Commissioner's Cup play.
Kelsey Mitchell was the story. She went 9-of-11 from the field (3-of-4 from three, 6-of-7 on two-pointers) for 27 points at a staggering 99.0 percent true shooting mark, going a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line with four turnovers being the one notable blemish on an otherwise nearly flawless individual performance. Her 81.8 percent field goal rate on 11 attempts was the most efficient high-volume shooting night of the game. Sophie Cunningham came off the bench and was sensational, going 8-of-11 from the field (6-of-7 from three) for 24 points at a technically perfect 101.0 percent true shooting mark, going 2-of-2 from the line with six rebounds and five fast-break points on a perfect 2-of-2 transition conversion rate. Her 85.7 percent three-point shooting in 26 bench minutes was the most prolific perimeter performance of the game. Caitlin Clark made everything work from the point, posting 21 points on 5-of-15 from the field but drawing 10 fouls and going 10-of-14 from the free throw line with a double-double (14 assists) and a 2.33 assist-to-turnover ratio. Six turnovers were frustrating on a night where her field goal shooting was well below her standard, but the 14 assists reflected how completely she controlled Indiana's offensive flow. Aliyah Boston had an 18-point, 11-rebound double-double on 7-of-11 shooting (73.1 percent true shooting) with four assists, two steals, and two blocks, her best all-around performance of the Cup week.
Toronto competed hard through three quarters but could not match Indiana's second-half depth. Laura Juskaite was the Tempo's best individual performer, going 8-of-11 from the field (2-of-3 from three) for 19 points at 80.0 percent true shooting with four assists and three steals, the kind of efficient line that earns recognition even in a losing effort. Marina Mabrey had 18 points on 7-of-16 shooting with seven assists and four turnovers, her usual high-volume operation on a night where the shooting was not at its best. Maria Conde came off the bench to go 4-of-8 from the field (3-of-4 from three) for 12 points at 71.1 percent true shooting with five assists and a 5.0 assist-to-turnover ratio, the most efficient Toronto bench contribution. Tima Pouye shot 1-of-7 from the field for five points (28.5 percent true shooting) with five personal fouls, the worst individual shooting performance of the game. Toronto's 63.2 percent free throw shooting (12-of-19) against Indiana's 84.8 percent was a persistent problem that kept the Fever's lead comfortable through every Indiana run.

Day 16 of the Commissioner's Cup saw Indiana tighten their grip on the Eastern Conference race with one pool game remaining. At 5-1, the Fever have now won four of their last five Cup games and look like the team most capable of pushing New York (5-0) in the championship game on June 30. Toronto falls to 2-4 in Cup play and their tournament ends on a difficult note, losing by 22 to a team they were tied with at halftime. Wednesday brings the final day of pool play across both conferences, with the Western Conference title still to be decided between Las Vegas, Minnesota, and Dallas.
Eastern Conference Cup Standings: NYL 5-0 | IND 5-1 | ATL 4-2 | WAS 2-3 | TOR 2-4 | CHI 1-4 | CON 0-5
Western Conference Cup Standings: LVA 5-1 | MIN 5-1 | DAL 4-2 | LAS 3-3 | PHX 2-4 | POR 1-5 | SEA 0-6
Star of the Night: Kelsey Mitchell, Indiana Fever
27 points | 9-of-11 FG | 3-of-4 from three | 6-of-6 FT | 99.0% true shooting | Efficiency score 28
Mitchell's 99.0 percent true shooting on 11 field goal attempts with a perfect free throw line is the individual performance of the night without debate. She attacked every level of Toronto's defense and converted almost everything she put up. Cunningham's 101.0 percent true shooting off the bench is technically the higher mark, but Mitchell's volume and the difficulty of her attempts across all three scoring areas give her the nod.
Dud of the Night: Tima Pouye, Toronto Tempo
5 points | 1-of-7 FG | 5 personal fouls | minus-17 | 28.5% true shooting
Toronto needed secondary contributors to step up alongside Juskaite and Mabrey, especially once Indiana started pulling away in the third quarter. Pouye went 1-of-7 from the field, fouled out, and finished at minus-17 in a game where the Tempo had no room for empty possessions. Her 28.5 percent true shooting on seven attempts reflected a night where she could not generate any offensive rhythm against Indiana's defensive pressure.
