WNBA Recap | June 14, 2026

If Monday's Commissioner's Cup slate had a theme, it was dominance. All three games ended in blowouts of 20 points or more, and in none of them did the losing team ever seriously threaten to close the gap. Dallas handed Las Vegas their worst Cup loss behind Azzi Fudd's most efficient shooting performance of the season. Minnesota suffocated Portland with 14 steals, 27 fast-break points, and a 35-point first quarter that ended the contest before halftime. And Golden State turned in their best defensive performance of the Cup, holding the Sparks to 33.3 percent from the field and generating 22 points off turnovers. Here's how it all went down.

Wings Hand Aces Their Worst Cup Loss

Las Vegas Aces 66, Dallas Wings 96

Las Vegas never led. Dallas opened with a 29-20 first quarter and built the lead as large as 30, winning all four quarters and never coming close to giving the Aces a way back in. Final: 96-66, the Wings improve to 4-2 in Commissioner's Cup play and hand Las Vegas their worst loss of the tournament by a significant margin.

Azzi Fudd delivered the most eye-catching individual shooting performance of the three games, going 8-of-9 from the field (7-of-7 on two-point attempts, 1-of-2 from three) for 19 points at a staggering 96.2 percent true shooting mark. Every shot she put up went in except one, and her paint conversion was perfect: 4-of-4 at the basket. Four second-chance points on one conversion, two fast-break points, and a plus-22 made this the most complete individual effort from a Dallas player in Monday's game. Jessica Shepard was the engine of Dallas's interior dominance, posting 15 points on 4-of-6 shooting and a perfect 7-of-10 from the free throw line with 15 rebounds, nine assists, two steals, and a 3.0 assist-to-turnover ratio. Her double-double of 15 points and 15 rebounds with nine assists makes her the most all-around impactful player in the game. Arike Ogunbowale complemented them both with 22 points on 5-of-11 from three, adding seven assists and going 5-of-6 from the free throw line. Dallas had 30 assists on 35 made field goals and an extraordinary 4.29 assist-to-turnover ratio as a team, which reflects just how cleanly they moved the ball against Las Vegas's depleted defense.

Las Vegas had no answers and no momentum at any point. A'ja Wilson was the lone Ace who competed at anything close to her usual standard, going 8-of-15 from the field for 18 points in the paint (14 paint points), though her two turnovers and minus-18 reflected how thoroughly Dallas owned the game when she was on the floor. Jewell Loyd came off the bench to shoot 8-of-14 (5-of-9 from three) for 21 points, the only Las Vegas player to crack 20, but her minus-17 in 27 minutes told the real story. Jackie Young went 3-of-13 from the field for six points and finished at minus-17. Chelsea Gray went 0-of-5 with four turnovers and finished at minus-22, the worst individual plus/minus of the game. Las Vegas shot 23.8 percent from three, 39.7 percent overall, and their biggest lead was exactly zero points. They were outclassed from the opening tip.

Lynx Turn on the Afterburners in a 33-Point Blowout

Portland Fire 74, Minnesota Lynx 107

Portland had the misfortune of running into Minnesota at full throttle. The Lynx opened with a 35-21 first quarter that set the tone immediately, and although Portland kept it somewhat competitive in the subsequent frames (25-19, 25-19, 22-15), they never once threatened to close the gap. Final: 107-74, and Minnesota improves to 5-1 in Commissioner's Cup play. The numbers were staggering: 54.5 percent from the field, 27 fast-break points on 61 percent conversion, 26 points off Portland's 22 turnovers, 16 offensive rebounds generating 19 second-chance points, and 60 points in the paint.

Courtney Williams was Minnesota's most efficient scorer, going 7-of-10 from the field (2-of-3 from three) for 16 points at 80 percent true shooting with five rebounds, four assists, and seven fast-break points on three transition conversions. She was at her best when the Lynx were pushing pace, which was constantly. Natasha Howard drew a remarkable 11 fouls and went to the line repeatedly, scoring 18 points on 6-of-11 shooting with six rebounds and three turnovers, her interior presence demanding double teams that opened up every kick-out Minnesota generated. Nia Coffey came off the bench for 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting (3-of-4 from three) at 75.9 percent true shooting with five rebounds, three steals, and three blocks, the kind of reserve performance that amplifies Minnesota's already-overwhelming depth. Olivia Miles shot 6-of-8 from the field for 12 points (100 percent on six two-point attempts) with five assists, three steals, and a perfect 2-of-2 fast-break conversion rate, though three turnovers and a tech foul were uncharacteristic. Antonia Delaere had seven assists and three steals in 26 minutes.

Portland had 22 turnovers, which Minnesota converted into 26 points, and their 15.4 percent second-chance conversion rate (2-of-13) against the Lynx's 50 percent (8-of-16) told the story of who controlled the physical battle throughout. Bridget Carleton was Portland's low point individually, going 1-of-9 from the field for three points at 15.2 percent true shooting with a minus-31, the worst individual plus/minus across all three Monday games. Sarah Ashlee Barker shot 3-of-5 (2-of-4 from three) for eight points but turned the ball over seven times, the most of any individual in the game. Emily Engstler gave Portland nine points on 4-of-7 shooting with two steals and a block but three turnovers as well. Portland's 61.1 percent free throw shooting (8-of-11) was a secondary issue against a team that was winning every other category by double digits.

Valkyries Smother Sparks With 13 Steals in a Defensive Clinic

Golden State Valkyries 78, Los Angeles Sparks 58

Golden State built a stunning 25-10 first-quarter lead and never looked back. Los Angeles won the third quarter (21-16) and kept it competitive in the second and fourth, but the first-quarter gap was simply too wide. The biggest lead was 24 points. Final: 78-58, and Golden State improves to 4-2 in Commissioner's Cup play with a defensive performance that was the story of the night.

Golden State generated 13 steals, the most of any team in Monday's three games, and converted Los Angeles's 16 turnovers into 22 points. Kaila Charles was the most efficient scorer in the game, going 5-of-7 from the field (2-of-3 from three) for 13 points at 82.5 percent true shooting with eight rebounds, five assists, two fast-break points, and a plus-15. Her efficiency score of 22 was the highest of the game. Gabby Williams delivered 16 points on 6-of-12 shooting with four rebounds, one steal, and a plus-17, though three turnovers and a tech foul were the blemishes on an otherwise strong night. Veronica Burton had 12 points, three assists, two steals, and two blocks. Kiah Stokes provided a near-perfect cameo off the bench: 1-of-1 from the field (a three), seven rebounds, two steals, and two blocks with an efficiency score of 14. Kayla Thornton added four steals. The combination of Golden State's 13 team steals and their 64.3 percent conversion rate at the rim on the limited opportunities they created defined how they turned a low-scoring game into a runaway.

Los Angeles managed 33.3 percent from the field and 14.3 percent from three, their worst individual shooting performance of the Cup. Rae Burrell drew six fouls and went 9-of-10 from the free throw line for 13 points, the most efficient way to score on a night when the field goal opportunities were not there. Cameron Brink went 4-of-5 from the field for 10 points but shot 40.0 percent from the free throw line (2-of-5) and finished with a minus-4 in limited minutes. Dearica Hamby had 10 rebounds and six points but three turnovers. Kelsey Plum went 3-of-10 for nine points at 39.8 percent true shooting, drew six personal fouls, and finished at minus-22, the worst plus/minus of the game. Erica Wheeler went 0-of-7 from the field with five assists and five personal fouls in a night where nothing went right from the perimeter. Los Angeles came in riding a recent surge of offensive production but ran into a Valkyries defensive effort that would have troubled any team.

DAL, MIN, & GSV Wins.

Monday was a day of routs across the board, and the Commissioner's Cup standings reflected the clarity of the results. Dallas's 30-point win over Las Vegas is the most significant result of the night: the Aces drop to 5-1 and Dallas climbs to 4-2, closing the gap in the Western Conference Cup race with games running short. Minnesota (5-1) stays locked in a tie with Las Vegas at the top of the West and continues to look like the most complete team in the tournament. Golden State's defensive masterclass keeps them at 4-2 and very much in the Western Conference conversation. For Los Angeles (3-3) and Portland (1-5), the final pool games are academic. With pool play closing on June 17, every result from here carries maximum weight.

Eastern Conference Cup Standings: NYL 5-0 | IND 4-1 | ATL 4-2 | WAS 2-3 | TOR 2-3 | CHI 1-4 | CON 0-5

Western Conference Cup Standings: LVA 5-1 | MIN 5-1 | DAL 4-2 | GSV 4-2 | LAS 3-3 | PHX 2-4 | POR 1-5 | SEA 0-6

Star of the Night: Jessica Shepard, Dallas Wings

15 points | 4-of-6 FG | 7-of-10 FT | 15 rebounds | 9 assists | 2 steals | 3.0 AST/TO ratio | Double-Double

In a game full of dominant performances, Shepard's 15-point, 15-rebound, nine-assist night earns the top distinction. The all-around impact across every category, the double-double, and the nine assists reflecting how she orchestrated Dallas's 30-assist team performance made her the connective tissue of the Wings' most complete Cup win. Fudd's 96.2 percent true shooting is the strongest counterargument, but Shepard's breadth of contribution across all three statistical categories gives her this one.

Dud of the Night: Bridget Carleton, Portland Fire

3 points | 1-of-9 FG | 1 turnover | minus-31 | 15.2% true shooting

Carleton came into Monday having been one of Portland's most reliable perimeter weapons throughout the Cup, including six threes in a one-point Cup win over Dallas just two days earlier. Against Minnesota she went 1-of-9 from the field with a minus-31, the worst individual plus/minus of any player across all three games. The 15.2 percent true shooting on nine attempts in a 33-point blowout is a night best forgotten quickly.
