WNBA Recap | July 10, 2026
Three games on Friday's slate, and the standings tell a clear story heading into the weekend. Golden State continues to be one of the hottest teams in the league, running their record to 17-7 and climbing to third in the West with a dominant win over a struggling Connecticut team. Dallas and Toronto put on an offensive showcase with Paige Bueckers and Marina Mabrey both scoring 34 points, but Dallas's superior free throw shooting and ball security proved decisive. And Los Angeles continued their late-season push behind another efficient double-double from Nneka Ogwumike. Here's how it all went down.
Valkyries Roll Past Sun, Push Win Streak to Eight Games
Golden State Valkyries 79, Connecticut Sun 64
Connecticut actually led after the first quarter, but Golden State's bench took over from there, outscoring the Sun's reserves by a wide margin and pulling away for good. The Valkyries shot 51.7 percent from the field and 44.4 percent from three, building a lead as large as 22 in a game that was comfortable by the fourth quarter. Final: 79-64, Golden State, who improve to 17-7 on the season and sit just half a game behind Minnesota and Las Vegas atop the Western Conference.
Janelle Salaun led the way, going 5-of-11 from the field (4-of-7 from three) for 16 points at 67.3 percent true shooting with seven rebounds and three steals. Veronica Burton was the game's most efficient facilitator, posting 17 points on 7-of-12 shooting with six assists against just one turnover, a stellar 6.0 assist-to-turnover ratio. Golden State's bench produced 42 points, an enormous depth advantage that included Tiffany Hayes going a perfect 3-of-3 from the field for nine points and Kaila Charles adding nine points on efficient shooting. That reserve scoring was the story of the night, and it's part of a larger pattern that has fueled Golden State's rise up the standings.
Connecticut, now 5-18 on the season and mired near the bottom of the Eastern Conference, struggled to generate consistent offense outside of a few bright spots. Diamond Miller led the Sun with 14 points on 4-of-8 shooting, going a perfect 5-of-5 from the free throw line. Olivia Nelson-Ododa added 12 points and eight rebounds, and Aaliyah Edwards contributed 11 points. But Connecticut shot just 25 percent from three and committed 22 turnovers that Golden State converted into 19 points, numbers that reflect a team still searching for consistency as the season wears on.

Bueckers and Mabrey Both Score 34 as Wings Outlast Tempo
Dallas Wings 108, Toronto Tempo 95
This was one of the more entertaining offensive shows of the season, with two of the league's most dynamic scorers going toe to toe. Toronto actually led after the first quarter behind hot shooting, but Dallas's free throw advantage and ball security down the stretch proved to be the difference in a game where both teams shot over 50 percent from the field. Final: 108-95, Dallas improves to 15-8 and remains fourth in the Western Conference.
Paige Bueckers was spectacular, going 13-of-22 from the field (2-of-5 from three) for 34 points at 69 percent true shooting with six rebounds, six assists, and just one turnover, a phenomenal 6.0 assist-to-turnover ratio. Jessica Shepard added a double-double with 20 points and 17 rebounds on 7-of-9 shooting, and Arike Ogunbowale contributed 20 points on 6-of-11 shooting with seven assists. Dallas went 19-of-21 from the free throw line as a team, a massive advantage over Toronto's 11-of-14, and their 7-of-9 second-chance conversion rate reflected a team that took care of business in every phase.
Toronto's Marina Mabrey matched Bueckers shot for shot, going 10-of-18 from the field (6-of-9 from three) for 34 points at 79 percent true shooting, though her defensive rating suffered as Dallas repeatedly attacked her matchup. Laura Juskaite was outstanding as well, posting 25 points on 10-of-16 shooting (3-of-6 from three) with 14 points in the paint. Isabelle Harrison added 18 points on an efficient 8-of-10 shooting. Toronto shot a scorching 46.7 percent from three as a team, but their 14 turnovers against Dallas's stingy seven, plus a stark free throw discrepancy, ultimately decided a game that both offenses will be proud of.

Ogwumike's Double-Double Leads Sparks Past Sky
Chicago Sky 87, Los Angeles Sparks 102
Chicago actually led after the first quarter and kept the game within a possession through three frames, but Los Angeles pulled away with a dominant 29-17 fourth quarter that put the game away. The Sparks shot 51.3 percent from the field and generated 25 points off Chicago's turnovers, continuing their strong recent stretch. Final: 102-87, Los Angeles improves to 11-11 on the season and continues to climb the Western Conference standings.
Nneka Ogwumike was excellent, going 9-of-16 from the field (3-of-7 from three) for 25 points at 68.7 percent true shooting with 12 rebounds for a double-double, five assists, and a steal. Ariel Atkins was nearly as impactful, posting 17 points on 7-of-13 shooting with six assists and three steals. Erica Wheeler added 15 points and eight assists, and Rae Burrell contributed 17 points on 6-of-13 shooting (4-of-6 from three). Los Angeles's 32 assists on 39 made field goals reflected one of the most cohesive offensive performances of their season, and their 14 fast-break points on 85.7 percent conversion showed a team playing with real confidence.
Chicago got a strong scoring effort but couldn't slow down Los Angeles's transition attack. Kamilla Cardoso led the Sky with 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting, and Gabriela Jaquez added 15 points on 6-of-12 shooting. Sydney Taylor and Courtney Vandersloot combined for 21 points off the bench. But Natasha Cloud struggled from the field, going just 2-of-11 for nine points, and Chicago's 24 percent three-point shooting (6-of-25) reflected a team that couldn't find enough perimeter consistency to keep pace once Los Angeles's fourth-quarter surge began.

GSV, DAL, & LAS Wins.
Friday's slate reinforced how tight the Western Conference race has become, with Golden State's win pushing them to 17-7 and within half a game of the top two spots held by Minnesota and Las Vegas. Dallas holds steady at fourth after their entertaining win over Toronto, a game defined by two of the league's premier scorers trading haymakers. And Los Angeles's continued improvement, now at 11-11, shows a Sparks team finding their identity late in the season behind Ogwumike's consistent double-double production and a deep, balanced offensive attack.
Star of the Night: Paige Bueckers, Dallas Wings
34 points | 13-of-22 FG | 69% true shooting | 6 rebounds | 6 assists | 1 turnover | 6.0 assist-to-turnover ratio
Bueckers matched Marina Mabrey's 34 points shot for shot in one of the most entertaining individual duels of the season, but her elite ball security, six assists against a single turnover, and her team coming away with the win give her the edge. This was a complete, winning performance in a game that demanded one.
Dud of the Night: Natasha Cloud, Chicago Sky
9 points | 2-of-11 FG | 18.2% field goal percentage | minus-16
Cloud's seven assists show she was still trying to facilitate, but 2-of-11 shooting in a game Chicago lost by 15 reflects a night where she couldn't generate offense of her own when the Sky needed every possible scoring option down the stretch. Her inefficiency from the field was the most visible individual shortfall in a game Chicago was competitive in for three quarters before fading.
